This 2" diameter, double-sided challenge coin with copper inserts features a laser-etched visage of the former Secretary of the Navy and Famous historian/author, George Bancroft, on one side. On the other is a laser-etched relief of Bancroft Hall. Said to be the largest contiguous set of academic dormitories in the U.S., it is the dormatory every midshipman calls home while at the academy. Both sides are made from copper taken directly from the U.S. Naval Academy’s Chapel dome and are surrounded by a bronze casing.
